Brooklyn, NY — L'Forma is proud to announce the completion of the historic ornamental plaster restoration of the landmark Brooklyn Paramount for Live Nation. Restored as a live music and entertainment venue, the 1928 theater required painstaking conservation, fabrication, and installation of ornamental plaster to reproduce its original architectural detailing and preserve its period character — a project at the very top of L'Forma's craft.
The scope spanned the venue's most prominent spaces — the main music hall, grand foyer, balcony levels, and lounges. L'Forma restored the vaulted Venetian plaster ceilings and installed and decoratively painted plaster molds at the stage proscenium, frieze molding, corbels, colonnade, and a signature ceiling rosette. Vertical columns received new plaster finishing, and gilding was applied at designated ceiling areas to return the space to its original grandeur.
To restore the underside of the exposed ornamental ceiling, L'Forma erected pipe scaffolding and rebuilt the detailing by hand using mesh, wire, and hand-applied plaster — followed by decorative painting executed to match the existing historic finishes. This is among the most specialized work in the trade: recreating century-old ornamental detail with the fidelity a landmark restoration demands, while integrating seamlessly with what remained of the original.
"The Brooklyn Paramount is a piece of history, and restoring its ornamental plaster meant matching craftsmanship from nearly a hundred years ago — molding by molding, rosette by rosette. Very few teams can do this kind of hand-applied ornamental restoration at this scale. We're incredibly proud to have helped bring this landmark back to life." — Peter Heretakis, Project Manager, L'Forma
