New Museum

The New Museum is New York City's leading contemporary art museum, dedicated to new art and new ideas since 1977. Its Bowery home is an architectural landmark in its own right, making it a fitting canvas for precision fireproofing and finish work.

L'Forma delivered a comprehensive fireproofing and painting scope for the New Museum in New York, applying intumescent fireproofing paint to over 1,500 linear feet of structural steel across both the existing and new buildings — achieving 3-hour ratings at columns, 2-hour at beams, and 1-hour at the roof structure. The scope extended to high-performance exterior coatings at mechanical-roof dunnage steel and building-gap grating, plus complete interior painting across all seven floors, including ceilings exceeding 25 feet. Working alongside Cooper Robertson over a two-year engagement, L'Forma's team built out the scaffolding access and executed every phase to the exacting standards a cultural landmark demands.
